
How to pick the right infrared lamp for your bathroom
Let’s be honest: nobody likes stepping out of a hot shower into a freezing cold bathroom. It’s a shock to the system. That’s why we built these 1500W ceiling units. Instead of trying to heat up all the air in the room—which takes forever—these lamps beam heat directly onto you. It’s like having your own personal patch of sunlight.
Getting the power right for your space
Here is the thing about wattage. More isn’t always better. A 1500W lamp is great for a standard or large bathroom. But if you cram that much power into a tiny powder room or a small stall? You’re going to turn that room into a sauna in about two minutes. It’s just too much. You have to look at your floor space and how high your ceilings are. If you’ve got a big room with lots of cold tiles, you’ll need that 1500W kick to fight the chill. But in a tiny space, a lower wattage lamp is a much smarter bet. If you overdo it in a small room without great ventilation, you might actually wear out the lamp faster because it’s just soaking in its own heat.
The tech side of things (kept simple)
We use shortwave infrared for these. Why? Because it’s fast. Really fast. Unlike other heaters that take a while to warm up, shortwave radiation hits you almost the second you flip the switch. You feel it instantly. Just a heads-up on the installation: make sure your ceiling mount can handle the heat. These lamps concentrate a lot of energy in one spot. Also, double-check your wiring. A 1500W unit pulls a decent amount of current, and you definitely don’t want to be tripping your breakers every time you want to stay warm.
Saving money and gear
You might think a bigger lamp is “better,” but there’s a trade-off with your electric bill. If the lamp is way too powerful for the room, the thermostat will keep clicking on and off every few seconds. We call this “short-cycling.” It’s not great for the electrical parts, and it’s not great for your wallet. If your bathroom is well-insulated, you can probably get away with lower wattage and save some cash. But if your room is drafty or feels like an icebox in the winter, stick with the 1500W. It’s the only way to actually stay warm.
