Keeping Your Fab Clean: The Truth About Heating
If you’re running a Class 100 cleanroom, you already know that air filters are only half the battle. The real headache? The stuff you can’t see until it’s too late. Most heating lamps are a nightmare in a fab. Once they hit peak temp, they start flaking or off-gassing VOCs. In our world, one tiny flake of degraded glass is enough to trash an entire batch of wafers. That’s a lot of money down the drain. That’s why we stick with high-purity synthetic quartz.
Why the material actually matters
We use fused silica with almost zero impurities. You won’t see that annoying “clouding” or scaling that happens with cheap glass. It’s clean. Really clean. Because we process these tubes to strip away every bit of surface contamination, you don’t have to worry about particles shedding—even when you’re cycling the heat up and down rapidly. You just get consistent, pure heat.
Power and Heat (Without the Mess)
Depending on how much space you have, we can dial in the wattage density. If you need a quick cure, we go short-wave. If you need a steady soak, medium-wave is the way to go. Either way, the heat goes straight to the target. Here’s the best part: since the heat transfer is a direct line-of-sight, you aren’t just baking the air around the lamp. This makes life a lot easier for your HVAC system, which can actually keep the room temperature where it needs to be.
The Practical Stuff
Installation is easy. We use standard industrial connectors, so you can just drop these in and wire them up. No hunting for weird adapters or custom brackets. But, a quick heads-up: high-purity quartz isn’t as “tough” as reinforced glass. It doesn’t love being bumped or shaken. If your setup vibrates a lot or gets handled frequently, grab a rigid mounting bracket. It’ll save you from a cracked tube and a very bad day. Also, since these lamps pack a punch, make sure your cooling fans are sized right. You don’t want your sockets burning out because the air isn’t moving.
